An inspiring and enthusiastic atmosphere filled the Auditorium of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Padjadjaran University (Fikom Unpad) on Saturday, September 13, 2025. As part of its 65th anniversary celebrations, Fikom Unpad successfully held an \u201cAlumni Sharing Session\u201d featuring six alumni from different generations with distinguished careers in various fields.<\/p>\n

Moderated by Fikom Unpad lecturer and education influencer Ira Mirawati, the event aimed to bridge the gap between students and the real world of work. The alumni shared their journeys, challenges, and tips for students who are about to embark on their careers, in line with the anniversary’s theme of \u201cHarmony, Giving Meaning to the Country.\u201d<\/p>\n

The six alumni who served as speakers were Robeth MV (Corporate Secretary, Pertamina Patra Niaga), Soleh Solihun (Comedian, Director), Ishfihana Hafny (Vice President of Technology, Asset Integrity Risk & RCM PT. Pertamina), Dioma Asatsuku (Head of Sports, Vidio.com), Adhi Pratama (Public Relations, Persib), and Ronal Surapradja (Comedian, Influencer).<\/p>\n

Experience and Character, Key Assets for Graduates<\/strong><\/p>\n

A strong common thread among all speakers was the emphasis that Grade Point Average (GPA) is not the only determinant of success. Robeth MV (class of 1996) emphasized that manners and character are far more important. \u201cMaintain your digital footprint, because companies will pay attention to it, and continue to be an adaptive person,\u201d he advised.<\/p>\n

This was supported by Dioma Asatsuku (class of 2010), who stated that recruiters focus more on organizational experience and the real impact it has. Ishfihana Hafny (class of 1992) added, \u201cA portfolio of experiences is a very valuable asset. Adaptability, resilience, and emotional intelligence are the keys to surviving in the workplace,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Key Skills: Skills from Campus Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n

The speakers also shared how non-academic activities on campus became their key skills. Soleh Solihun recounted in detail his role as Vice Chair of the FIKOM Student Executive Board and founder of the campus magazine \u201cKarung Goni\u201d (News, Expressions, Gossip, and Opinions). \u201cMy experience in organizing and especially practicing writing in the campus magazine became the foundation of my career, from becoming a journalist to where I am now,\u201d said Soleh.<\/p>\n

The importance of writing skills is also affirmed by Adhi Pratama (alumnus of the class of 2002). His journey from being a journalist at Koran Sindo to becoming the Public Relations Officer for PERSIB proves that writing skills are a fundamental skill that communication students in any field must possess.<\/p>\n

Build Mentality: Adaptive, Unique, and Thirsty for Knowledge<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition to character and skills, mindset is also a determining factor. Ronal Surapradja (class of 1995 alumnus) shared his unique story of switching from his dream of becoming a doctor to the world of communication. “The reputation of being a graduate of Fikom Unpad is not enough. You must have something unique and continue to sharpen your competencies,” said Ronal, who continued his studies up to a PhD at Fikom Unpad due to his drive to keep learning.<\/p>\n

Dioma Asatsuku concluded with a powerful message for communication students. \u201cDon’t feel inferior about being labeled a generalist. That is our strength. Being a generalist allows us to enter and adapt to various industries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The event successfully provided an overview and inspiration regarding a comprehensive career roadmap for students, covering the importance of building character, honing practical skills, and having an adaptive mindset to address the challenges of the times.<\/p>\n

Alumni Gathering Bazaar<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition to inspiring discussion sessions, the event was also enlivened by a bazaar held at the Fikom Unpad Dome. A total of 14 booths filled with lecturers, employees (doskar), and alumni participated by selling various products, ranging from food and beverages to clothing. The festivities were further enhanced by an entertainment stage featuring musical talents from faculty members, staff, and students who wished to participate, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere throughout the day.\u00a0(TAH)<\/p>\n
