Ilkom PSDKU Unpad Strengthens Steps Toward Excellent Program Accreditation through FGD with ASPIKOM
Bandung, July 14, 2025 – The Communication Science Study Program (Ilkom) of Universitas Padjadjaran PSDKU Pangandaran took part in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) titled “Achieving Excellent Program Accreditation through the Independent Accreditation Board for Social, Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences (LAMSPAK)” held at Universitas Komputer Indonesia, Jl. Dipatiukur No. 112–116, Bandung, on Monday (14/7/2025).
The event was attended by 50 participants and was organized by the Association of Indonesia Communication Science Higher Education Institutions (ASPIKOM) – West Java Regional Coordinator, representing Communication Science study programs from across West Java. The primary aim of the FGD was to strengthen understanding and develop strategies for each study program to achieve “Excellent” status through the accreditation process conducted by LAMSPAK.
As the keynote speaker, the committee invited LAMSPAK assessor Dr. Ani Yuningsih, M.Si., who provided detailed explanations on assessment criteria, achievement indicators, and strategic steps that universities can take. The presentation also covered best practices from programs that have successfully attained “Excellent” accreditation, as well as common challenges faced during the assessment process.
Dr. Ani emphasized the importance of aligning academic quality with national and international standards, stating, “Achieving an Excellent accreditation is not just about fulfilling documents; it’s about creating a culture of quality that is sustained in every aspect of academic life.”
This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, particularly the target of improving higher education quality, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as it fosters collaboration among universities in West Java and cooperation with the national accreditation body.
According to Ibu Pandan, Head of the Curriculum Department at ASPIKOM West Java and lecturer at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, “We hope this activity will motivate and guide each study program to be better prepared for the accreditation process, enabling them to provide high-quality education services for students.”
What’s next? The outcomes and recommendations from this FGD will be used as evaluation material and strategic planning references by each study program, including Ilkom PSDKU Unpad, to achieve the target of “Excellent” accreditation according to LAMSPAK standards. (AF)
