Fikom is Grateful: Harmony Sharing Inspiration from the Prophet’s Birthday on the 65th Anniversary of Fikom Unpad
The Faculty of Communication Sciences at Padjadjaran University is once again holding the Fikom Bersyukur event as part of its 65th anniversary celebrations. The event, themed “Harmony in Sharing Inspiration from the Prophet’s Birthday,” took place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, at the Fikom Unpad Postgraduate Auditorium and was broadcast live on the Fikom Unpad Official YouTube channel.
The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Saepudin Zohari S.Mn., M.I.Kom., followed by the recitation of Surah Ar-Rahman by all participants present at the Fikom Unpad Postgraduate Auditorium.
The Vice Dean of Resources and Organization at Fikom Unpad, Dr. Jenny Ratna Suminar, Dra., M. Si., expressed her gratitude for the achievements of Fikom Unpad as it enters its 65th year. She hoped that this event would serve as a reminder and reinforcement for the academic community to always be grateful and not forget to share. She added that signs of gratitude include when we become more willing to share, become open to learning, and when we are professional in our work. “Hopefully, this event can strengthen and remind us to always be grateful, and hopefully what we are doing can be a blessing for all of us,” she said.
Next, we move on to the main event of the Fikom Bersyukur event, which is a sermon by Ustad KH. Tengku Maulana, SM. In his sermon, he explained the five characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad that serve as role models and identities for Muslims. The five characteristics are as follows: first, Asyiddaa’u alal kuffar, meaning that Muslims must be firm towards non-Muslims or those outside the Islamic faith. This implies that Muslims must maintain high consistency and steadfastness in their beliefs. Outside of that, such as in social life, they must remain tolerant and caring in their togetherness. The second is Ruhama u bainahum, loving one another or being full of love among themselves. The third is tarahum rukka’an sujjadan, which means “you see them bowing and prostrating themselves seeking Allah’s blessings and His pleasure.”
Ustad KH. Tengku Maulana, SM also conveyed the obligation to pray. Prayer is an absolute obligation that cannot be abandoned, except for seven groups of people, namely children, the senile, people who are in a coma, people who are unconscious, people who are drunk, women who are menstruating, and people who are insane.
Furthermore, the fourth characteristic, yabtaghûna fadllam minallâhi wa ridlwânan, can be interpreted as a message that motivates Muslims to always be full of fighting spirit, high work mobility, enthusiasm, and always want to give their best. The last characteristic, sîmâhum fî wujûhihim min atsaris-sujûd, means that the faces of the Prophet’s followers show signs of prostration (glowing) because of their obedience in worship, and those who are close to Allah have peace in their hearts and the light of faith on their faces.
The event ended with a prayer, followed by a group photo and a symbolic donation handover at the Fikom sharing event by the Vice Dean of Resources and the Fikom Unpad organization, Dr. Jenny Ratna Suminar, Dra., M. Si and the Chair of Dies Syauqy Lukman, M.S.M., Ph.D., to representatives of educational staff, security personnel, and office staff as a gesture of appreciation and gratitude for their role in supporting activities at Fikom Unpad.
