
Visit of Fikom Universitas Mercu Buana to Fikom Universitas Padjadjaran
The Faculty of Communication Sciences of Universitas Padjadjaran received a visit from the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Universitas Mercu Buana on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Oemi Room, Building 1 Fikom Unpad. This activity is a benchmarking on the Public Relations Study Program of Fikom Unpad in the context of establishing a Public Relations Study Program at Universitas Mercu Buana.
Participants who attended the activity were the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Universitas Mercu Buana Dr. Elly Yuliawati, M.Si., Deputy Dean Dr. Juwono Tri Atmodjo, M.Si, Head of the Communication Science Study Program Dr. Farid Hamid, M.Si., Ponco Budi Sulistyo, Ph.D and the lecturer team of Fikom Mercu Buana. The visit was warmly welcomed by the Vice Dean of Fikom Unpad Prof. Dr. Atwar Bajari, M.Si, Dr. Jenny Ratna Suminar, M.Si, Head of the Public Relations Study Program Centurion Chandratama Priyatna, M.Si, Ph.D and a team of public relations department lecturers.

The Fikom lecturer team at Universitas Mercu Buana explained that currently the Communication Science Study Program has 4 specializations, namely broadcasting, public relations, digital communication, advertising and marketing communication, where currently the specialization will be upgraded to a study program. The purpose of this visit was to find out the accreditation process and the formation of the Public Relations Study Program at Fikom Unpad.
Head of the Quality Assurance Unit of Fikom Unpad Kokom Komariah, M.Si explained that the stages carried out in order to establish the Public Relations Study Program included searching for universities, conducting feasibility studies, and proposing study programs to universities. Head of the Public Relations Study Program Centurion Chandratama Priyatna, M.Si, Ph.D explained that an effective method in preparing the public relations study program curriculum is to focus group discussions with users and alumni to find out which courses are still relevant or need to be raised, such as Digital PR courses. Public relations and industry associations also play a role in providing input and references for the Public Relations Study Program. With this meeting, it is hoped that cooperation between the Faculties can be established in the future. (RA)
