
Fikom Unpad Education Personnel Goes to Belitung in the context of Capacity Building
The Faculty of Communication Sciences of Universitas Padjadjaran organized Capacity Building activities held in Belitung for three days, on 3-5 December 2022. Capacity Building activities were attended by 68 Fikom education staff participants in order to increase work capacity.
Dr. Dadang Rahmat Hidayat, M.Si. as the Dean of Fikom Unpad said that the three-day activity on the island of Belitung was very valuable because it became an appreciation event for the educational workforce. The hope is that this activity can strengthen the motivation, skills, and understanding of education personnel about what must be achieved by the Faculty of Communication Sciences and Universitas Padjadjaran and increase the motivation of education personnel to provide the best for Unpad. Therefore, this Capacity Building event was also held to appreciate the education staff who have done their best for Fikom and Unpad, and most importantly, the togetherness of the education staff and lecturers to increase capacity, relationships, and coordination between units.
The Vice Dean for Resources, Planning, and Information of Fikom Unpad, Dr. Jenny Ratna Suminar, M.Si., said that this activity serves as a tool to build work enthusiasm and cohesiveness while at the same time helping to advance the tourism industry, especially the Tanjung Kelayang Belitung special economic area which has been designated by the government since 2019 as one of the 10 priority tourism destinations outside the island of Bali. The hope is that Fikom will always be solid and even better in the following years.
During the three days of capacity building activities, education personnel gained cultural insights by visiting a number of cultural attractions on the island of Belitung including traditional houses.
Chairman of the Belitung Malay Customary Institute, Drs. Abdul Hadi Adjin said that in addition to preserving culture, tourist visits also improve the people’s economy. According to him, the Belitung Malay Customary Institute has two main missions, the first is to preserve the values of regional customs, arts and culture including culinary and the second is to preserve the environment and must be maintained. Belitung Island consists of hundreds of small islands that are part of Bangka Belitung Province. (DM)
