Here, students’ communication skills will be honed to prepare them for the world of work. Sejak didirikannya, Fikom Unpad sudah banyak meluluskan alumni yang tersebar di berbagai bidang. Of course, this is inseparable from the curriculum, policies, and activities that support it. This time, one of the alumni of Fikom Unpad will tell how his experience at Fikom has helped him in his career.
Khairani Windyaningrum who is familiarly called Mba Rani is an alumni of the Public Relations study program class of 2010. Kini, Mba Rani bekerja di PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia tbk atau lebih dikenal dengan GMF AeroAsia. Karir Mba Rani di GMF AeroAsia dimulai pada tahun 2017 sebagai Corporate Communications. Now in her sixth year, Mba Rani has been assigned as Senior Manager of Corporate Communications and CSR. In pioneering her career, Mba Rani received an award from GMF AeroAsia as Extraordinary Performer for Corporate Secretary Department in 2019 and an award by PR Indonesia as Bronze Winner Insan PR Indonesia 2020 – Manager Public Relations in 2020.
Mba Rani’s career is very much in line with her chosen major in college, which is public relations. She chose this major because she felt that public relations had a broad and clear career path. Namun, tidak hanya itu alasan Mba Rani memilih jurusan ini adalah karena melihat ospek jurusannya yang sangat bermanfaat dan practical dengan dunia kerja di bidang kehumasan. Until now, Mba Rani feels that the PR department is a department that suits her. Beliau bercerita bahwa pengalaman-pengalamannya di Humas yang membentuknya menjadi Khairani yang sekarang dengan semua achievement-nya.
During her college years, Mba Rani had good achievements in academics. Banyak sekali mata kuliah di Humas yang menyenangkan dan menjadi favorit Mba Rani. Publisitas menjadi salah satu mata kuliah favoritnya karena tugas-tugas yang diberikan sangat mengasah skill yang relevan dengan pekerjaan PR, seperti menulis, membuat event, press conference, dsb. Mata kuliah lainnya adalah PR writing, kegemarannya dalam menulis membuat Mba Rani sangat suka dan enjoy dengan tugas-tugasnya. Social statistics became a course that Mba Rani could not enjoy because she had to deal with numbers and calculations again.
Tidak hanya di bidang akademik, Mba Rani juga aktif di kegiatan organisasi, yaitu Himpunan Mahasiswa Hubungan Masyarakat. Her experience started with being the deputy head of the student and advocacy department. At the same time, Mba Rani is also the conceptor and Vice Project Officer of The 1st Padjadjaran PR Fair which is a public relations competition for all students in Indonesia. Not stopping there, Mba Rani, who had fallen in love with the PR department’s ospek activities from the start, succeeded in becoming the Chairperson of PR Orientation or the PR department’s ospek in 2012. Then, Mba Rani nominated herself to be the Chairperson of Hima Humas until she finally became the vice chairperson of Hima Humas.
Mba Rani juga bercerita bahwa selama berkuliah di Humas, proporsi antara belajar, bermain, dan berorganisasi sudah sangat tepat. Mba Rani does not feel stressed by the tasks and activities that exist so that she and her friends can still actively participate in activities on or off campus. Mba Rani juga dikelilingi oleh teman-teman yang sangat kreatif dan inovatif sehingga mereka selalu berusaha untuk membuat kegiatan-kegiatan yang catchy dan bermanfaat, contohnya adalah kegiatan PPRF.
Berbagai ilmu yang Mba Rani dapatkan selama berkuliah di Fikom Unpad merupakan hal fundamental dalam merintis karirnya di bidang kehumasan. Coupled with other experiences to enrich and complement the skills and knowledge possessed. “… ibaratnya kalo kayak bangun rumah, tiangnya (ilmu fundamental atau basic selama di humas) tuh udah ada. Tinggal kita menata di dunia karir tuh tambah batu bata, trus tambah atap, supaya kita menjalankan profesi ini dengan lebih kokoh.” ucap Mba Rani.
Mba Rani’s journey at Fikom Unpad for four years which led her to become a Senior Manager of Corporate Communications and CSR GMF AeroAsia, hopefully it can be a motivation for Fikom Unpad friends to continue to be enthusiastic in learning and increasing experience. Like the message conveyed by Mba Rani “… the world is evolving, never be satisfied with what you have done today … because what you do on campus is really a big provision when you face the real world, the post-campus world, the world of work. How you build friendships, how you improve your skills, how you gather experience, it will affect your future. So make your time worth it.” (CAR)
