Professor of Fikom Unpad Prof. Dr. Eni Maryani, M.Si. attended the ICA 2022 Conference in Paris
International Communication Association (ICA) will be held face-to-face again on May 26-30, 2022 in Paris. One of the Professors of Fikom Unpad Prof. Dr. Eni Maryani, M.Si. also attended the event. He was very grateful for the opportunity to participate in the ICA conference as a communication scholar in the annual routine of international academics.
He was part of a team consisting of German, Pakistani and Indonesian academics with the research title “International Perspectives on Information Avoidance During the Coronavirus Pandemic: Comparing Media Evaluations and Media Use in Pakistan, Germany, and Indonesia”, he presented the results of his research on May 30, 2022 in room 315 of the Jakarta Municipal Building. Palais Des Congres, Paris. During the conference, he felt that he had a lot to learn, and always wanted to share more about the research he had done in Indonesia. This is so that the results of his research can be known by other academics in the international scientific community.
According to Prof. Eni, this annual conference can encourage enthusiasm and add insight into the development of research in the field of communication and media. In addition to participating in research activities in the field of Communication and Technology (CAT) and Media (media industry, digital media, social media, alternative media, etc.) as well as gender and feminist issues, Prof. Eni also participates in academics’ research on the environment, renewable energy, and politics.
In her view, Prof. Eni stated that although they conduct studies on various issues, as communication academics, their research must be truly communication research. He is familiar with the issues and methods they use such as content analysis, discourse analysis, phenomenology, and a variety of quantitative research that measures various aspects of communication such as audience research related to content choice, media usage, media coverage, or media effects.
These activities make Prof. Eni feel happy because she gets the opportunity to learn more from academics from a number of countries, examine how communication perspectives or research are used on issues, and the results of her research can be used by practitioners to create various communication strategies.
