
Welcoming the New Academic Year, Fikom Unpad Holds Hybrid Open House 2022
The moment of the new academic year 2022/2023, the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Padjadjaran University held an event Open House on Saturday, August 20, 2022 in the Auditorium Room of the Postgraduate Building, Jatinangor Campus, Sumedang, which was attended by faculty leaders and parents of students with the system hybrid which is divided into three sessions from 08.30 – 14.30 WIB. This event aims to establish a relationship between faculty leaders and parents of students, increase insight and awareness of parents in general regarding education, as well as at the same time to equalize information regarding academic / non-academic activities in higher education so as to achieve success for sons / daughters who will receive Fikom Unpad education. Even though Fikom Unpad has been established for more than 6 decades, Fikom Unpad still conducts Open House with the aim of introducing the developments owned by the campus.
This Open House was different from the previous years’ Open House which was always conducted offline. Given the pandemic conditions that have not been fully resolved, many things were conveyed by the faculty leaders in this forum so that the parents of new 2022 students together with the campus to be able to supervise each other as part of the program. support system In order to achieve quality higher education in an era of transition in health and digital technology.

“On this occasion we would like to congratulate the parents of students for their trust in choosing study programs at Fikom Unpad, which in the last 3 years has an average interest of 1: 20, then introduce faculty leaders, campus facilities, curriculum and learning mechanisms, achievements and other matters related to academic and non-academic programs,” explained Dr. Dadang Rahmat Hidayat, S.Sos., SH., M.Si as Dean of Fikom Unpad.
As the only Faculty in a state university with PTNBH status, Fikom Unpad is now 62 years old and has achieved various proud achievements, one of which is that all study programs have received accreditation A or “Excellent” from the National Accreditation Agency of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (KemendikbudRistek) and have a Community Television Laboratory “DIVIA UNPAD” which broadcasts on digital frequencies for the Greater Bandung area. Of the many parents of students who attended offline and via zoom meeting, quite a lot of questions were asked, including those related to the MBKM curriculum, further studies in postgraduate programs(fast treck), student activity units (UKM), and this year’s ospek requirements on campus which must be booster vaccines.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Deans and Heads of Study Programs explained about educational services at the policy and operational levels. This was explained by Prof. Dr. Atwar Bajari, M.Si as the Vice Dean who explained the problems of academic services, curriculum, and alumni. Meanwhile, Dr. Jenny Ratna Suminar, M.Si as the Vice Dean conveyed related to the single tuition program (UKT), endowment funds to help students who are hampered in financial problems and donations for the construction of mosques on campus.
This Open House activity began with an opening and continued with a presentation from the Dean and Deputy Dean who were accompanied by the Chairperson of the Academic Senate, Heads of Study Programs, Heads of Departments, and Managers within Fikom Unpad by displaying power point slides and videos about Fikom Unpad’s profile. In addition, it also explains the flow of new students in obtaining academic services that must be registered in the Unpad Student Portal Account. This open house succeeded in inviting approximately 250 participants and was part of a series of New Student Admission activities for the 2022/2023 Academic Year at Fikom Unpad with the Chairperson of the Committee led by Dr. Heru Ryanto Budiana, M.Si. “And currently, Fikom Unpad is applying for international accreditation to AQAS for all levels of study programs in Fikom Unpad and hopefully by the end of this year (2022) it will be achieved,” concluded the Dean of Fikom Unpad.
