Fikom Unpad Organizes New Student Admission (PMB) 2022 Offline, Students Return to Campus

This year, the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Universitas Padjadjaran held an offline New Student Admission Ceremony for the 2022/2023 Academic Year. The event was the beginning of the new students being inaugurated. New Student Admission for the Faculty of Communication Science is known as Dialog, which this year has the theme “Candradimuka”. Candradimuka according to KBBI means a place to train oneself to be strong, agile, and trained. Through this theme, Dialogue is expected to be a place for new Fikom Unpad students to be able to maximize their potential with assignments and event concepts that have been designed.

Dialog 2022: Candradimuka has three main series, namely Purwadimuka, Bimadaksa, Antawacana, and is closed with a series of events entitled Adara. On Thursday, August 25, 2022, the first series, namely the New Student Admission Ceremony of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University, which is one part of Purwadimuka, has been carried out solemnly. The event started at 08.00 WIB in Moestopo room, Auditorium, and Amphitheater of Fikom Unpad. The event was opened with the procession of the New Student Admission of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University.

Dean of Fikom Unpad, Dr. Dadang Rahmat Hidayat, S.Sos., S.H., M.Si. in his remarks said ‘We proudly welcome you new students because you are all accepted through a rigorous process that makes you all superior students’. On average, they are accepted with a tightness of close to 1:21, exceeding the average tightness of Universitas Padjadjaran.

Vice Dean of Fikom Unpad, Prof. Dr. Atwar Bajari, M.Si. said that this year Fikom Unpad accepted 826 prospective students. The number is the result of selection both through the SNMPTN Pathway, SBMPTN Pathway, and SMUP Pathway where the overall number of registrants reached 15,544 people. In more detail, in 2022, the number of applicants for the Academic Bachelor Program (S1) through the SNMPTN Pathway is 4761 people, the SBMPTN Pathway is 7142 people, and through the S1 undergraduate SMUP Pathway is 5046 people and for the Applied Bachelor Program (MPM) as many as 1305 and 510 people for the Pangandaran Campus Communication Science Study Program. Meanwhile, the number of applicants through the SMUP Pathway for the Master of Communication Science Program (S2) was 66 people and for the Doctoral Program (S3) was 34 people.

Interest in studying at Fikom Unpad has continued to increase at least in the last five years. The number of applicants to Fikom Unpad has always been in the top three highest groups in Unpad. This is characterized by the level of tightness of each study program. Starting from the D-4 Media Production Management Study Program which has a tightness level of 1: 13.88, the Bachelor of Communication Science Study Program at 1: 60.5, the Bachelor of Library Science Study Program at 1: 11.19, the Bachelor of Public Relations Study Program at 1: 20.20, the Bachelor of Journalism Study Program at 1:14.05, Communication Management Study Program by 1:21.28, Television and Film Study Program by 1:18.53, PSDKU Communication Science Study Program by 1:14.17, S-2 Communication Science Study Program by 1:1.90, and S-3 Communication Science Study Program which has a tightness of 1:20.

The procession of the New Student Admission Ceremony of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University was marked by the submission of a list of new student names by the Dean of Fikom Unpad, Dr. Dadang Rahmat Hidayat, S.Sos., SH, M.Si to each Head of Study Program (Kaprodi) both Bachelor (S1), Master (S2), Doctoral (S3), and Applied Bachelor (D4). Then, followed by the inauguration of new students by symbolically pinning alma mater coats to student representatives.

With the holding of the New Student Admission Ceremony for the 2022/2023 Academic Year of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University, it is hoped that it can provide new insights to students as an initial step before entering the world of lectures.
