Nadin Azani, Fikom Student who is Active as a Volunteer for Search and Rescue Operations
Nadin Azani, is a student of the Unpad Journalism Study Program who is active in various activities. As a student, Nadin is active in the Journalistic Student Association (HMJ) and the Unpad SAR Unit. Since 2018 until now, Nadin is an Athlete of the Indonesian Rafting Federation in Bandung City.
Being a student at Fikom Unpad provides an opportunity for Nadin to participate in various activities. At first, Nadin was undecided about choosing the Unpad Palawa Nature Lovers Student Association or Unit Search and Rescue (SAR) Unpad. However, because of his long-standing desire to become a volunteer, the 2016 Journalism student finally decided to become part of the Unpad SAR Unit.
In the Unpad SAR Unit there is basic training education, where Nadin is given a lot of material and field exercises. Starting from learning about health, first aid, jungle rescue, land navigation, vertical rescue, water rescue, and much more. After graduating from the basic training, there was also a mentoring period as further education, where Nadin learned more and more deeply about the world of search and rescue (SAR).
Nadin has the desire to be able to participate in SAR operations, considering his initial goal was to become a volunteer. Every time there is news of a disaster operation, the Unpad SAR Unit usually holds a meeting to discuss whether they need to intervene or not, and if they need to intervene, which personnel will be sent, if there is a decision then they can be dispatched. With a strong desire, provisions from various trainings that have been passed, and wide open opportunities, Nadin was finally able to participate in various SAR operations.
Many rescue and search operations are carried out by girls who love outdoor activities this. He has gone through many journeys. When the SAR operation at Bantarheulang Dam, Ciamis in 2020, when the operation was carried out, Nadin encountered difficulties. At first Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency) had already made a scheme and evacuation route, but the residents asked for rescuers (rescuer) to cut the path so that the path becomes even more difficult for rescuers, this results in rescuers having to pass through rice fields carrying victims along with the rubber boats used. In fact, if you follow the initial plan from Basarnas, it will be easier for rescuers to evacuate, according to this woman who has a hobby of swimming.
Nadin had many unforgettable experiences, one of which was when there was a landslide in Cimanggung in 2021. At that time, Nadin Azani was in charge of trauma healing (trauma healing) for children affected by the disaster. The children there are always enthusiastic to take part in the activities held. Even after the posko was disbanded, the children still asked when Nadin and the team could play with them again. The cheerful smiles of the children always made Nadin feel excited and grateful. From these various SAR operations, Nadin was able to learn many things, from land navigation, how to control himself, dealing with other people, and many other abilities. In addition to having many benefits, there is also a certain satisfaction for Nadin when he can help each other with others. Nadin Azani said, as long as there is the opportunity and ability to participate in SAR operations in the future, of course he will participate in it.
According to the 2018 Bogor Porda Rafting silver medal winner, what is the meaning of success and intelligence when we cannot help and benefit others. ( Nabila Azhari)
