
Fikom Unpad in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Malaysia organized the Virtual Mobility Course 2023.
The Faculty of Communication Sciences of Universitas Padjadjaran in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Malaysia has successfully organized the Virtual Mobility Course 2023 event entitled “Communication as a Unifier of the Nation” on June 6 and 7, 2023. This virtual event aims to provide an understanding of the phenomenon of communication that is the glue of the Indonesian nation in cultural and linguistic diversity.
Through this course, Universitas Padjadjaran and UiTM Malaysia succeeded in exchanging online learning, strengthening relationships between universities, and instilling educational values to participants who took the Virtual Mobility Course.
This Virtual Mobility Course featured four interesting subthemes delivered by expert speakers. The subthemes included “The Power of Communication in Indonesia” which discussed the role of communication in the struggle for Indonesian independence: The Youth Pledge, presented by Dandi Supriadi, S.Sos., MA (SUT), Ph.D. Then, the subtheme “Early Appearance of Communication Technology” which discussed the early appearance of communication technology and its influence on the development of mass communication in Indonesia, presented by Dr. Pandan Yudhapramesti, S.Sos., MT. Furthermore, the subtheme “Intercultural Communication in the Digital Age” discussed the impact of technological advances on cross-cultural communication, presented by Syauqy Lukman, S.Sos., M.S.M. Finally, the subtheme “What is The Future of Communication?” which discussed the development of artificial intelligence in the modern world and its impact on communication in the future, presented by Dr. Abie Besman S.Sos., M.Si.
In addition to interesting presentations, the event also featured a variety of entertainment, such as short movie, music video, and flashmob performances that showcased Indonesia’s cultural diversity, including the cultures of West Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, and Nusa Tenggara. Virtual Mobility Course participants were also given the opportunity to participate in Q&A sessions and games with colleagues from both universities.
“We are very pleased to be able to collaborate with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Malaysia in holding this Virtual Mobility Course,” said Dr. Dadang Rahmat Hidayat, S.Sos.,S.H.,M.Si, as the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. “We are confident that this event will not only strengthen the relationship between the two universities, but also provide great benefits through this Virtual Mobility Course.”
The Virtual Mobility Course ran smoothly until the end, after two days and four enthusiastic sessions. The event received positive feedback and impressions from the participants. It is hoped that events like this can continue to be conducted to expand knowledge and strengthen ties between nations through effective communication. (TA)
