Library and Information Science Study Program Student Tita Nursari Passed through the Scientific Article Scheme
Tita Nursari became the first student at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran to graduate with a scientific article scheme as a substitute for a thesis in the Library and Information Science Study Program, Fikom Unpad. She graduated with a GPA of 3.88 on Thursday (06/04/2023). His scientific article entitled “Community Reading Gardens Partnership with Community Institutions in the Dissemination of Health Information” was accepted by the UGM Journal of Library Science Periodical (BIP) based on the LoA issued by BIP to be published in the June 2023 edition, Vol. 19 No. 01 under the guidance of Dr. Elnovani Lusiana, S.Sos, M.Si. and Andri Yanto, S.Sos, M.I.Kom.
This scientific article scheme allows students to graduate without using a thesis. Prodi Perpustakaan dan Sains Informasi membuka peluang kepada mahasiswa untuk memperkaya kajian dan diseminasi hasil penelitian melalui penulisan artikel ilmiah. This was conveyed by
Dr. Ute Lies Siti Khadijah, S.Sos., M.Si, selaku Ketua Prodi Perpustakaan dan Sains Informasi Fikom Unpad, “Prodi kami membuka peluang kepada mahasiswa untuk menghasilkan output penelitian agar memperkaya keilmuan prodi yang merujuk pada Peraturan Rektor Unpad No. 46 Tahun 2016 tentang Penyelenggaraan Pendidikan di Universitas Padjadjaran yang menyatakan bahwa: Skripsi dapat diganti dengan artikel ilmiah pada jurnal internasional bereputasi atau jurnal nasional terakreditasi oleh mahasiswa sebagai penulis utama bersama dengan dosen pembimbingnya sebagai penulis pendamping dengan mencantumkan institusi Unpad.”
Proses penulisan artikel diawali Tita dengan menentukan topik dan melakukan bimbingan dengan Dosen Pembimbing terkait topik yang ingin diteliti. After the acc from both supervisors, he prepared the research instruments and collected data in the field. After receiving direction from his supervisor, he began writing articles according to the chosen journal template. Then submit the manuscript of the research results and wait for improvements and suggestions from editors and bestary partners (reviewers).
Tita had doubts in making her scientific article, but with the guidance and support of the supervisor, the research manuscript could be sent to the UGM BIP Journal on November 28, 2022. After the authors had corrected the various suggestions and feedback from the editors and reviewers, the article was accepted on February 23, 2023 and could be published for the June 2023 issue. Revisi pun tidak dilakukan sendiri, setiap saran dan masukan dari editor Tita diskusikan dengan Dosen Pembimbing. The research experience and the results in the form of scientific articles are a challenge for Tita because she has to prepare herself to re-compile the thesis as a graduation requirement if the article is rejected. Tita mendapatkan dukungan dari orang sekitar dan memiliki sikap tidak pantang menyerah dalam melakukan perbaikan artikel menjadi perjuangan yang berbuah manis.
Kendala paling berat yang dirasakan Tita adalah melawan dirinya sendiri. “There is a time, even though we have prepared ourselves, there must be a time when we are tired, up and down is definitely there. But, we need to ask ourselves ‘Why are we doing this?’ ‘What is the reason we started something?’ ‘Who are we fighting for so far?’ because from these answers, it can reignite our enthusiasm and make us try to complete what we have started,” said Tita.
Tita advised that when preparing a thesis, we must be enthusiastic and not feel alone. “Encouragement to my friends, maybe the term is ‘I’ve grown up and everything is alone’ but please don’t feel alone, whether you realize it or not, family, friends, companions, and lecturers are there for us. Just do we realize that they are there and ready to help us? Don’t hesitate to share and ask questions, I’m sure they are ready to help and are always there for us,” continued Tita.
Berjuang dalam menyusun tugas akhir memang tidak mudah. Kita harus tetap berjuang melawan setiap kendala, berani bertanya, dan terus berdoa kepada Allah SWT. We will reap the results that end up sweet. Therefore, don’t be discouraged from pursuing your dreams. (PSI)
